KDM International Ltd is a specialist Timber & Forest Products Company supplying a variety of Sectors including Pallet, Shed and Merchants. The Project comprising of the provision of a new two-storey office building for KDM International Plc at Innovations Park, The Havens, Ransomes Europark, Ipswich. The building is of modern construction with a steel structural frame and concrete pre-cast floors, shallow pitch roof and an external envelope of brick. The window units are double-glazed with full height glazed curtain walling to the reception area. The building is square and arranged on two floors with the entrance/reception on the front elevation. The building was developed as a high-tech facility with air conditioning provided by VRV air conditioning and ventilation via mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. The building is electrically heated. Johns Slater and Haward were responsible for Performance specifying and overseeing the installation of the Mechanical and Electrical Services works which included the Space Heating/Cooling, Mains Cold Water Service (CWM), Hot Water Services (HWS), Ventilation, Above Ground Drainage, Electrical Distribution, Electrical Power, Lighting, Emergency Lighting, Intercom system, Telephone and Data/IT systems and Lightning Protection. The office power solution for the Project included for a number of flush floor boxes to be installed. The boxes were three or four compartment fed from an underfloor busbar system. The busbars were made up of 3600mm lengths fed from the distribution board with armoured cables to the feeder unit. All supplies were via a 63A MCB. Tap off units were 32A unfused of 3m lengths feeding each floor box. Each three compartment floor box houses 2 No twin switched socket outlets and four CAT 6 data outlets. Each four compartment floor box houses 2 No twin switched socket outlets and eight CAT 6 data outlets. All equipment was specified to be Thorsman including accessory plates. The Contractor was also required to provide 10no. spare floor boxes complete with accessories and floor tiles for future use by the Client. |
